On May 31, 2019, the new Decathlon ParqueAstur store opened its doors in the Asturian town of Corvera. This is the third store of the French multinational in the Principality of Asturias after those of Lugones and Gijón. GMD Solutions carried out all the engineering and construction management work.

The establishment is located at ParqueAstur Shopping Center and is part of the renovation process of the shopping center, sharing spaces with establishments such as Carrefour or the New Yorker store.

It is a commercial space with more than 1,400 m2 of sales area, as well as the usual rooms for staff and storage.

GMD Solutions carried out all the engineering and construction management work for the adaptation of the warehouse to convert it into a Decathlon store. In this case, the work was a challenge for our team as it implied the complete demolition of three existing premises, the forged between floors, as well as the opening of new accesses that did not previously exist.

In addition, the facade was significantly refurbished to achieve a more modern look than the shopping center previously had; and, in line with the modernity and quality required by Decathlon in its new stores.

As for the facilities, the center has a completely renovated installation of fire protection, air conditioning, electricity, and Intrusion. The lighting is provided by a LED mesh from the commercial company TRILUX, as has been customary for more than two years.

All projects were carried out in collaboration with our partner in the field of architecture, Arellano Arquitectos; while the execution of the construction works was carried out by Crealia Construcción; Meta Instalaciones, electrical installer; Chubb Parsi, security installer and Grupo Normex, a company specialized in fire protection installations.

With this store, GMD Solutions consolidates itself as one of the engineering references for the French company with more than 30 projects carried out with this client. Among our most outstanding projects, we could name the Decathlon Logistics Center in Getafe, the Decathlon of Berango, in Vizcaya, or the Decathlon Princesa, located in the center of the Spanish capital. Currently, GMD Solutions continues with active projects for Decathlon, such as the new Decathlon Jaén or the comprehensive reform of the Decathlon Salamanca.
