In 2019 Decathlon proposed a project for the comprehensive renovation of the store currently owned and operated in Carbajosa de la Sagrada, which is commercially known as Decathlon Salamanca. The store has a sales area of 2,400 m² and a total of 2,900 m² of built area. The store has been in operation since 2002 in the town of Salamanca, being a reference in the region.

The building is located at Parque Comercial E. Leclerc, next to the national highway A-51, and next to the establishment of the multinational hypermarket and food store, E. Leclerc. Near the store, there are other brands such as Norauto and Bricomart.

The project consisted of a renovation of the entire store envelope (facade and roof) to improve the energy efficiency of the building. To this end, the façade was clad with sandwich panels. The roof was doubled in thickness with the BMI brand system, improving insulation. At the same time, the store has been provided with natural lighting, thanks to the installation of skylights that have given the store a brightness and comfort that benefits the customer. The renovation of the facade was accompanied by a renewal of the corporate image, by installing new backlit signs to go in line with the image of the French brand in the stores of the latest construction.

In another phase of the project, the entrance doors were also replaced, and the SAS at the entrance was renovated, giving the store a more modern image conforming to the current format of Decathlon stores in Spain.

Internally, all the interior areas have been refurbished, both public (toilets) and private, improving the comfort of both customers and employees. Last but not least, the store has been equipped with two goods handling areas, one of which has a newly built loading and unloading dock. Once all of the above has been completed, and, as the last phase of execution, the store’s floor has been renovated by the company RINOL ROCLAND SUESCO.

GMD Solutions, through its technical office department, carried out the elaboration of all the necessary projects, as well as the management of the works, a complex task since it was done while the store was open. The coordination between companies and the fulfillment of the planning has been very important so that everything turned out correctly, adequately, and safely for people. The works were completed during the first week of March 2020.

The companies participating in the execution were the construction company of Civity Group, OCP, in charge of all the civil works, the renovation of the façade, and the construction of the new merchandise treatment areas. Pangea was the company in charge of the roof renovation and installation of skylights. Instalaciones Industriales Somains took care of low voltage works, and Grupo Agüero installed the CCTV and intrusion system. Finally, Iberext installed the fire protection system. All of them are regular companies working on the reforms and new implementations of Decathlon in Spain.

With this reform and renovation work, GMD Solutions continues its collaboration with the opening of Decathlon Ciudad Real. This commercial relationship started in 2013 and has been reinforced over the following years with countless projects, including the CLA logistics warehouse in Getafe, Decathlon Jaén (opened in December 2019), and Decathlon Princesa.
