Decathlon La Torre

On October 22, 2020, the new Decathlon La Torre opened its doors as part of the shopping park “La Torre Outlet Zaragoza“, in the Aragonese capital. This store, which is the relocation of the old premises located in Plaza Imperial, has a built area of 2,966m² of which 2,542m² are dedicated to the sales area where the public can find the products of the French brand specialized in sports equipment. In addition to the standard electrical, lighting, air conditioning, fire protection, and intrusion/CCTV installations, the establishment has a parking area with more than 160 parking spaces, two of which are equipped with chargers for electric vehicles.

For this project, GMD Solutions was in charge of the Project Monitoring, contributing with its knowledge of the technical description and of Decathlon’s works. We supported the companies chosen by the owner, IDOM, the engineering firm drafting the projects, and ACyC, the construction company in charge of the construction works, to develop the different locations of the retail park.

Despite the exceptional conditions resulting from the Covid pandemic, which represented an even greater challenge, and the delay of the works throughout the shopping center, due to the new security measures and the uncertainty about the opening date, the different teams did a great job being able to open before the end of 2020.

Decathlon joins other well-known brands such as Verdecora, McDonald’s, and Reebok in the new retail park that opened on October 22 where the old Pikolin factory was located. In fact, the name of this park, The Tower, refers to the Pikolin Tower, a recognized symbol in the Aragonese capital. Decathlon La Torre is the fourth store of the French brand in Zaragoza, besides Puerto Venicia, Gran Casa, and the Decathlon City on Paseo Sagasta, which was also managed by our team.

With this new project, GMD Solutions reinforces its position as one of the reference engineering companies of the French sports retail company with whom we have collaborated to open more than 15 stores, such as those in Jaén or Salamanca, since 2013. Our company, a specialist in projects for the retail sector, also provided its services in projects with the Leroy Merlin store in Valdepeñas and the Ensanche Sur retail park in Alcorcón.
