GMD Solutions was the engineering firm the French multinational Decathlon chose to enlarge and completely refurbish its store in the Asturian town of Gijón. The works took place during the first half of 2022 to carry out the reopening in August.
In the extension, consisting of incorporating 250 square meters of warehouse and reforming the existing façade, usual industrial companies intervened in these works for Decathlon Spain. The civil works were executed by the Galician company MELCOR, the electricity from the Asturian Electricidad Llano, while the fire protection was carried out entirely by IBEREXT. And the company Pangea executed the new deck and its connection with the old one.
Our engineering team, which has collaborated with Decathlon Spain since 2013 with the opening of Decathlon Ciudad Real, carried out all the technical and follow-up work typical of a project of this caliber. The elaboration of the technical reports, the control of execution, and the industrial tenders were developed in their entirety by our technicians. In addition, all the projects were developed using the BIM methodology, which allowed for great precision when defining budgets and constructive solutions.
With this project, GMD Solutions has consolidated its position as one of the French giant’s benchmark engineering firms in Spain after having carried out all kinds of projects, from extensions such as Decathlon Santiago to new installations such as Decathlon Orihuela or stores in city centers such as Decathlon City Cádiz.
