Throughout the third quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, GMD Solutions executed the integral management and drafting of projects for the air-conditioning renovation of the head office of Loterías y Apuestas del Estado in Madrid. The building, located in Calle Xaudaró 15, east of the Spanish capital, has three floors housing the central offices of the national gaming operator. Due to the facility’s age and the high maintenance costs, SELAE (Sociedad Española de Loterías y Apuestas del Estado) decided to complete a renovation and replace the building’s air-conditioning and ventilation system.

GMD Solutions was first awarded the tender to carry out the technical projects in collaboration with AAISA, an installer specialized in air conditioning, and later for managing the execution and direction of the works.

The building had cassette-type terminal units and outdoor units located on the roof. Still, due to the passage of time, the air conditioning operation could have been better for offices with continuous occupancy. In addition, compliance with the Regulation on Thermal Installations in Buildings, in force since 2013, was not guaranteed.

After the replacement, the new installation has VRV-type units on the roof with a total thermal power of 350kW. The chosen units are from the commercial house LG Spain, which has also collaborated in the installation sizing.

For its part, FULTON was the installer awarded the work, carrying out the entire process according to the standards set out in the project and resulting in an ideal result.

As in all projects carried out by our team, the entire installation and the building were modeled in BIM methodology, thus giving the design maximum precision and avoiding the appearance of contradictory items or unwanted interferences between the different elements.

With this project, GMD Solutions expands its experience in renovating integrated HVAC systems.
