In December 2019, Decathlon Jaén opened its doors; a store of 2,554m² of salesroom and a total surface of 2,900m² with which the French multinational disembarks in one of the few provincial capitals in which it was not present to date.

The store is located in the Jaén Plaza Shopping Park, next to establishments of well-known brands such as C&A, LIDL, and Leroy Merlin, which will be set up in the coming months in the shopping area located a few kilometers north of the capital of Jaén.

Next to the salesroom, Decathlon Jaén has an outdoor parking lot with more than 500 parking spaces shared with the rest of the establishments, and staff areas including a meeting room, technical room, computer room, several boxes, changing rooms, as well as a relaxation room for the sales team.

With this latest opening, Decathlon already with a total of 179 stores in the national territory, being the country with the second-largest deployment after its country of origin: France. The impressive expansion carried out in recent years has led the leading company in the sale of sports equipment, to be present in practically all the Spanish provinces, with few exceptions.

GMD Solutions, as one of the reference engineering companies of the sports retail company, carried out the comprehensive management of the project, from the drafting of all the technical reports to the construction management and pertinent legalizations. The companies participating in the execution of the work were Vera y Baño from Murcia, in charge of all the civil works; Instalaciones Eléctricas Somains as far as low voltage works are concerned, Grupo Agüero as a company specializing in Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and intrusion; and finally, Grupo Normex as a fire protection installer. All of them are regular companies in the reforms and new implementations of Decathlon in Spain.

With Decathlon Jaén, GMD Solutions continues its collaboration that began in 2013 with the opening of Decathlon Ciudad Real, which has been strengthened over the following years with countless projects, such as Decathlon Princesa, the CLA logistics warehouse in Getafe, Decathlon Motril, and Decathlon Parque Astur. In addition, this is the first project carried out entirely in BIM methodology for the French multinational, which is constantly seeking to modernize its processes and adapt them to the new market exigence.
