As part of its ambitious expansion plan, the multinational logistics company REDUR put into operation last March its state-of-the-art dispatch center in the city of Vitoria.
GMD Solutions drafted the projects and carried out the Project Management and management of licenses and legalizations with the different institutions: the city council, the delegation of industry, and the Basque government; managing the entire project, from its design to execution, and start-up.
The center of the capital of Alava is at the forefront in terms of logistics and distribution, with 48 docks for trailers, equipped with hydraulic platforms and automatic doors, in addition to another 11 van parking spaces, from which deliveries can be made within the area.
The logistics warehouse has a total area of 4,650 m2, with an administrative area divided into two floors, changing rooms, and a rest area for personnel. The prefabricated structure, consisting of pillars, delta beams, and purlins, allows the space to be completely diaphanous, without any intermediate pillars, providing a surface area of nearly 4,500 m2, perfect for the transit of goods between the 48 docks.
The exterior urbanization, essential for the maneuvering of trucks and vans, has more than 8,000m2 of concrete floor developed especially for this type of application by one of the leading companies in the execution of industrial floors, RINOL ROCLAND.
Leading companies in the logistics area have participated in the construction, such as the Basque construction and civil works company CAMPEZO, the company specializing in low and medium voltage electrical installations Gil Urzay, and CAMPISA, an Italian company specializing in docks and sectional doors, which has landed in Spain thanks to this great client.
As it is also a center that will specialize in the distribution of pharmaceutical material, it has integral air conditioning. To do this, an interior paneling of the warehouse was installed using a refrigerated panel and a refrigerated walkable ceiling. The execution has been carried out by the manufacturer TAVER, which specialized in this type of installation.
As for air conditioning, the building is equipped with three Rooftop units from CIAT connected to fiber duct distribution networks. The installation was carried out by the Spanish air conditioning company TH Mantenimiento.
The installation of a 44-outlet sorter from VANDERLANDE will give the center a much higher delivery capacity than at present, allowing a great leap in quality for REDUR’s customers.
As a result of the integral air conditioning and the sorter, the center will have a high energy demand, so in parallel to the development of the logistics warehouse, the installation of a 400kVAs transformer station was carried out, which will provide medium voltage service to REDUR Vitoria
The execution of the warehouse took 6 months, considered a record time, taking into account the complexity of the installations and the challenge of coordinating all the participants.
After the projects of REDUR Coruña and the air-conditioned rooms built in the centers of Vitoria, Bailén, Benavente, and Valencia, GMD has confirmed its position as the benchmark engineering firm for one of the fastest-growing companies in Spain’s logistics sector.
