On 2017, GMD Solutions executed the replacement of the lighting fixtures of the Centro Base of Ciudad Real, an establishment for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of people with disabilities managed by the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha.

The old installation consisted mainly of 4x18W and 4x40W fluorescent screens and 2x26W fluorescent downlights. The total installed power was 13.5kW and the annual consumption was about 38,000kWh.

These luminaires were replaced by equivalent LED models: 40 and 60W screens and 12W downlights with Bridgelux chip and Meanwell power supply. The efficacy of these models was about 100lm/W. The installed power is 4.86kW, i.e. 64% less than the previous installation. This saving resulted in a reduction of the contracted installed power and a significant economic saving. On the other hand, electricity consumption was reduced to about 17,000kWh/year (55% less).

In addition, it should be noted that LED technology has a much longer service life than fluorescent lamps, which means that replacing LEDs saves on spare parts and maintenance costs.

The amortization of the initial investment is expected to be less than 24 months. Given that our products have a 3-year guarantee and that during this period any product that fails would be replaced and replaced, the operation allows a fully insured return.

Also, the color temperature of the fluorescent installation was cool white (6000K) and it has already been shown that this type of radiation can damage the human eye. For this reason, GMD Solutions recommended installing luminaires with a neutral white color temperature (4000K) to provide better comfort to the users and workers of the Centro Base.
