In the last quarter of 2020, the Energy Efficiency Department of GMD Solutions, in collaboration with the energy services company Energio, carried out Energy Efficiency audits of the 35 centers of the Spanish multinational ELECNOR in the Peninsula.
The centers, which belong to the different companies of the group and have a total surface area of more than 86,000 m2, are located in the Autonomous Communities of Madrid, Catalonia, Valencia, Andalusia, the Basque Country, and Castilla y León.
The audits, carried out to comply with the Royal Decree 56/2016, were divided into prior verification visits and the drafting of the supporting reports. In addition, each audit includes different improvement measures in order to improve Energy Efficiency and reduce consumption in all the company’s centers.
Since the approval of the Royal Decree 56 on February 12, 2016, all companies that meet one of the following three requirements:
- More than 250 employees
- An annual turnover of more than 50 million euros.
- A balance sheet greater than 43 million euros.
They are obliged to carry out and register Energy Efficiency audits every four years on at least the centers that account for 80% of the company’s overall energy consumption. This obligation is also linked to the implementation of improvements to cut the company’s carbon dioxide emissions.
