On December 2017, Decathlon Getafe unveiled its renovated façade. The facade renovation consisted of changing the entrance from a central entrance to a new corner entrance.

The facade renovation of Decathlon Getafe consisted of the displacement of the entrance/exit of the store previously located in the center of the south facade, the main facade of the commercial building. This change was carried out during the last months of the year.

This renovation of the Decathlon Getafe facade also included the relocation of the main sign, the advertising signs, the SAS entrance, and everything else that involves a change of image of this magnitude. As a result of this relocation of the main entrance, the sales area has changed its layout, creating a new distribution for the entire store with the goal of increasing sales. These modifications usually require a change of cash registers according to the new layout, as has been the case.

The work was also used to change the entire fire detection system and bring it into compliance with current regulations, and to modify the entire public address system and the store’s reactive compensation equipment. Finally, the security system of the entire store was updated, adapting it to Decathlon’s new needs for 2017. Another action was the renovation and painting of the floor of the entire store using a special painting system executed by the company IPSOL.

The complexity of this project lies in the fact that all the work had to be performed in an open store, which is an establishment open on Sundays and holidays, which meant that all the work had to be done at night. The coordination of the project with the store managers and the different companies was crucial to ensure that customers keep shopping without inconvenience.

This project, starting at the end of 2016, allowed GMD Solutions to work for a year alongside the French brand’s technical team. As in the rest of the actions carried out for Decathlon Spain, GMD Solutions developed the necessary projects for the modification of the activity license and managed the execution of the work.

Due to the complexity of this project, the collaboration between all the participating companies and, mainly, the store staff has been essential for the successful completion of the project. The companies that collaborated on this project are CC3ARCHI (civil works), Iberext (PCI), Inelt (electricity), Grupo Agüero (intrusion and CCTV), IPSOL (flooring), and ProjectSign (signage).
