On March 18, 2019, Decathlon opened the doors of its City store in Granada. It is the relocation of the old store in a place located about 200 meters in the same street Mesones of the capital of Granada. In the new location, number 36 of that street, the store has a built area of just over 200m2 in which the concept of City stores of the French brand is developed, focused on the most important urban centers of Spain in order to bring its products closer to customers.
GMD Solutions carried out the drafting of the project, direction, and management of the works. All facilities were renovated in a record time of only 4 weeks. The work was entrusted to companies that are usual collaborators in Decathlon establishments. The multi-service group Inelt Multitechnical Services carried out most of the work; in particular, it installed all the electrical, fire protection, and air conditioning equipment and was responsible for the civil works. Grupo Agüero carried out the intrusion and closed-circuit television (CCTV) installation and ProjectSign the signage of the establishment.
In line with Decathlon’s acquired commitment to Energy Efficiency and against climate change over the last few years, the store has the most efficient equipment. The lighting was made with LED technology in 100% of the establishment, a heat recovery system was installed to take advantage of the thermal inertia of the interior, complying with the air renewal required by regulations, and the air conditioning equipment has high COP and EER values, which measure the thermal efficiency of an air conditioning or refrigeration system.
The project involved the difficulty of being a work in the center of the city, with restricted access to streets and protecting architectural elements such as the façade. Despite the complexity, the store opening took place as planned on the date required by the client.
